Infographics for Solar Power Awareness in Florida

Solar Power Awareness Info-Graphics
I decided to make a series of info-graphics to share the current status, the future, and how to make personal changes in the solar power industry. The people that I had selected to send this series of info-graphics ranged from a selection of friends and family members. Solar power stands to be one of the prominent substitutes in replacement of non-renewable energy resources such as coal and oil. My info-graphics were designed in order to change the frame of the message to be more relatable and present more tangible strategies. Simple messages that provide methods of how to personally change their lifestyles provide the motivation to enact change on the greater scale. Smaller actions help increase the larger
movement in the effort to combat
climate change.

Info-Graphics Responses
I received a variety of different responses from the people who received the info-graphics. The
younger generation of people had the tendency to support the increase and use of solar panels in the effort to promote renewable resources. On the contrary, despite the effort to appeal to the concerns of their children, the older generations didn't seem to care to a same degree or not at all about the increase of solar power.

Status of Solar Power in Florida
Solar power within the United States has been on the rise over the past decade as the environmental movement has begun to increase momentum. In the case of Florida, the prices of solar panels have declined 35% over the past 5 years and more urban centers such as Tampa are heavy concentrated areas of solar panels. However, there are current legislation within Florida in which continue to inhibit greater rates of growth in the industry. For example, Florida doesn't have any renewable portfolio standard and power purchase agreements. These two factors are some of the prime reasons for preventing greater investments into the solar power industry.

There are numerous benefits that are able to come from the increase of the solar power industry. Solar panels have the benefits of having zero costs after installation and having little to no maintenance required after installation. Solar panels tend to have a lifetime warranty that doesn't require more personal labor. Another positive that comes from the use of solar panels is that solar energy stands as a form of clean energy. This form of clean energy reduces someone's personal carbon footprint and therefore the children and grandchildren of the future generations from the reduction of pollutants.
